Silent B words
Silent B appears in two places: after M at the end of a syllable (climb, thumb, lamb) and before T (debt, doubt, subtle). The MB group lost its B sound centuries ago, while debt and doubt had a B inserted by scholars copying Latin spellings. Listen for the word ending on a clean M with no puff of air after it.
