-ED ending words

The past tense -ed is pronounced as t after voiceless sounds (walked), as d after voiced sounds (played), and as id only after t or d (wanted). The extra syllable appears in that third case alone, so watched is one syllable but waited is two. Listen for the ending and count the syllables.
